Screening of Non-Communicable diseases like diabetes, hypertension and three most common cancers (oral, breast and cervical cancer) is an integral part of healthcare services provided by Swasthya Sawari. In rural areas many people remain undiagnosed of diabetes due to lack of screening facilities. Jivika Healthcare in partnership with the Government of Jharkhand and CreditAccess India Foundation is bridging the gap by providing diabetes screening facility in the hard-to-reach villages of Gola block in Jharkhand.

A 44 years old woman named Amna Khatun visited Swasthya Sawari camp organized in Sosokalan village on 17th of August, 2023. She was diagnosed of diabetes after screening. She was counselled on diet modification and lifestyle changes and referred to CHC Gola for treatment. After multiple follow-ups, the beneficiary visited a private clinic and is currently on medication.
Adults with diabetes have a two- to three-fold increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. Combined with reduced blood flow, neuropathy (nerve damage) in the feet increases the chance of foot ulcers, infection, and the
eventual need for limb amputation. Diabetic retinopathy is an important cause of blindness and occurs as a result of long-term accumulated damage to the small blood vessels in the retina. Diabetes is among the leading causes of kidney failure. Therefore, it is important to control diabetes to ensure a healthy disease-free society.
